Ryan Lackey is Chief Security Officer (CSO) at Evertas. He has been involved in cryptocurrency and computer security since the 1990s – participating on cypherpunks mailing list where many early ideas for electronic cash, trustworthy computing, censorship-resistant communications networks, and globally distributed systems were actively discussed and prototyped.
He founded the world’s first offshore datahaven (HavenCo, on Sealand in the North Sea), bootstrapped a defense contractor and satellite communications company in Iraq and Afghanistan, and founded a Y Combinator-funded secure virtualization startup which he sold to Cloudflare (and then managed product security for several years post-acquisition). Subsequently, after another security technology startup in secure computing, he became CSO and then foundation board member at a top-10 crypto foundation in Switzerland, then moved to Puerto Rico and joined Evertas as CSO.
He is interested in hardware tamper-evidence/tamper-response, verifiable remote attestation and secure computing, trustworthy computing infrastructure from client to server, and economic models for computer security. As CSO at Evertas, he participates in the advancement of new standards for the broader industry.
